Paul Garske
Cave and Wreck Explorer
Sydney - Austrailia
Paul Garske has been diving since 1985 and has a keen interest in diving deep shipwrecks, and more recently, caves. His qualifications extend from Cave Diving to, Trimix Closed Circuit Rebreather Diver and TDI Divemaster.

Paul is a founding member and director of The Sydney Project Inc, a technical diving group at the forefront of wreck exploration in Australia. Amongst the long list of new wrecks The Sydney Project has located and dived, Paul was one of the first to dive the “SS Cumberland” in 97m hit by a German mine in WW1 (2003, 2004), “Bega” in 76m sank during bad weather in 1908 (2004, 2005), the US Liberty ship “William Dawes” in 130m torpedoed by a Japanese submarine in WW2 (2005) and the “Iron Knight” in 125m torpedoed by a Japanese submarine in WW2 (2006).

These dives were all carried out using either a single or twin closed circuit rebreathers. Paul has built his own twin rebreather which gives him the advantage of being total gas self sufficiency for dives as long as 5 hours in duration.

Paul is one of the few divers that enjoy pushing the limits using new innovative technology. Along with Dave Apperley he is always thinking of how to improve rebreather technology, to push places like the caves in remote forests of Tasmania.
