To the readers of ADM it will come as no surprise that I love diving in the cold green waters of the Pacific Northwest more than anywhere else on Earth. I started underwater photography over three decades ago with a used Nikonos II and a dented flash-bulb system and have been learning ever since! As a self-taught photographer it was often difficult to find the best methods to photograph the underwater creatures and sights of Puget Sound, the Strait of Juan de Fuca, and British Columbia. Having to deal with typical Northwest low light and poor visibility, I almost always discarded far more shots than I kept.
The emerald waters of the Pacific Northwest, particularly Washington and British Columbia, offer underwater photographers amazing opportunities to capture images rarely, if ever, seen anywhere else. Our pristine mountains, forests, rivers and shorelines also provide wonderful subjects for photographers searching for that perfect shot. Please take some time to browse through this selection of some of my favorite images. I shall be adding to it regularly.
It is my earnest hope that you will enjoy viewing them as much as I enjoyed creating them. |
