Born and raised in Vancouver, Canada, Mike graduated from the University of British Columbia in 1995. After working and travelling in SE Asia and Australia for several years, Mike started working full time in the scuba industry in 1999 with the Palau Aggressor. His diving resume is quite extensive throughout the Pacific region as he served 5 years as the Photo Pro aboard Aggressor Liveaboards in Palau, Fiji, and Tahiti. His diving travels include extensive dives in the Galapagos Islands, Cocos Island, the Philippines, Vancouver, New Zealand, and Indonesia.

Mike currently runs Manta Visions Photo/Video Center at the Manta Ray Bay Hotel in Yap, Micronesia. He is a regular contributor of articles and photos to scuba diving magazines throughout the world and his photography is represented by the stock agencies Seapics and Alamy. He is a moderator on Wetpixel.com, the leading source of underwater photography on the internet. He regularly leads adventurous and fun filled digital photography seminars to some of the top diving locations in the world. Mike uses Nikon cameras and Aquatica housings.

In the cinematography end of things, Mike shoots Hi Definition video with a Sony Z1U camera and Amphibico housing. His work has appeared on several Japanese travel shows and he has served as the underwater cameraman for several television productions in Yap. He is represented by Jessica Berman-Bogdan’s film agency, Global Image Works.
